A highly anticipated demo version is set to become available on Jan. 7, providing a sizable glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Critically, any save data achieved within this demo is eligible to be carried over directly into the complete game upon its February release.

This project represents a comprehensive reimagining of the seminal year 2000 JRPG, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant departure from other series re-releases, such as the recently launched HD-2D versions, this version utilizes a unique 3D art style. The world are designed to evoke intricate dioramas, with protagonists having a delightful toy-like look.

"Even with the previous port, the story was still quite lengthy. Therefore, we came to a conclusion that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this experience for contemporary gamers."

Significant Mechanical Improvements and Modernizations

The creators has implemented several modernizations to refresh the original gameplay loop. This encompasses:

• Quick Field Encounters: Similar to modern RPGs, weaker enemies are now dispatched instantly on the overworld map eliminating the need for initiating a separate traditional battle sequence.
• Variable Combat Speed: Gamers have the option to accelerate battle sequences to quickly power through easier encounters.
• Expanded Vocation Mechanics: One completely new job class was added for this reimagining. Additionally, characters now have the option to take on a secondary vocation, significantly expanding strategic possibilities.

Such changes are aimed at mitigate a key the 2000 game's frequent criticisms: its daunting scope. The original main quest was known to require over 100 hours to complete. This new version has been expressly structured to improve pacing and cut down on any filler.
