Pat Bamford Signs With Sheffield United Despite Leading Abusive Songs Targeting Coach Chris Wilder
The striker is now a member of the Championship side just half a year after leading disrespectful taunts aimed at their manager, Wilder.
The 32-year-old striker, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has signed a agreement joining the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. His seven-year time with Leeds was ended amicably this past summer.
Among the player's final notable acts while at Leeds included starting offensive chants about Wilder during the club’s promotion party in April. Now, the one-cap England international will feature for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to rescue his beloved club away from the relegation zone.
Previous Conflict Involving the Striker and the Manager
Both men had previous conflict prior to Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season and United were defeated in the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as “a muppet” back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured automatic promotion while Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Everything seems has been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement in attack while Bamford looking to revive his career.
The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, called Wilder the following day.
Chris Wilder commented at the time: “Spoke with Patrick recently and I’ve no issue whatsoever with that. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.
“We had a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel as well and had a longer discussion with him and he's a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we used to give it and take it and that is an integral part of the game at every level, including Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”
Latest Career Struggles
Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Boro striker has struggled with injury in recent years.
