Star Refutes Anti-Vaxxer Stance After Lending His Voice To Controversial Coronavirus Feature

Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a new documentary that questions the safety of immunizations and commends one-time cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The Feature's Disputed Basis

Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is based on a popular book published by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for allegations that the illness was caused by a bad strain of the influenza shot.

Her collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with far-right figure the Infowars host. He took to social media celebrating Neeson's role in the project.

A Strong Denial

Representatives for Neeson have issued a statement pushing back against suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.

"We all understand that unethical practices may occur within the drug industry, but that should never be confused with rejection of vaccines," the response explains. "He never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His extensive work with the UN children's agency underscores his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."

It noted that the star was not involved in crafting the project's editorial content and that concerns about its claims ought to go to the creators.

Key Claims Featured in the Feature

In the film, the voiceover provided by Neeson includes several controversial statements:

  • It states that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
  • It declares that "research has become highly politicised."
  • RFK Jr is featured stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
  • The film also criticizes stay-at-home orders, saying they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
  • Regarding the immunizations, it mentions a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."

Historical Controversy and Ongoing Debates

The documentary also references a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the subject of a BBC apology by the network for violations of guidelines.

In recent weeks, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to change its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is also referenced in the film, contrary to a recent study from the WHO reiterating no connection has been found.

An Earlier Position of Support

Contrasting the film's tone, Neeson has formerly expressed strong support for vaccines in his position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

In 2022, he described vaccines as "an incredible human success story," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."

The film finishes with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This isn't the end of our journey. It is the dawn of a new chapter."
