The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often marked by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who found the show and supported its peculiarly charming sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about observing this charming family navigate their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to evolve comedy past its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
