Ways these Broncos and the 'play-dough' quarterback could stop the Kansas City Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available through select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week in the NFL season and after last week's discussion regarding two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter versus the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.

But it was positive to observe that Denver quarterback the rookie was able to have that deficit before direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year in CB their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos won that contest.

They executed the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always rushing more than four defenders but they could position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

At the start in the campaign, we said during a show that the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has excelled significantly while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in positive situations.

This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw all over, however they don't move the mobility as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he's so athletic.

His assets include his mobility, being able to pass while moving, as well as using different arm angles to deliver throws as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to deliver that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and can throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

When you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and when you have a mobile QB the defense must cover the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems Payton appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing on offence is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, I don't think Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to be in their division. The key to do to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and that's precisely what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers in 1933, this team are also the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.

It depends on which form of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
